When cleaning wood floors, be careful with excessive use of water or liquid cleaner. Due to wood’s porous nature, it will absorb liquid and dry with permanent damage if oversaturated. Sweeping and vacuuming regularly is a great way to keep wood floors visibly clean. Mop routinely with wood-safe cleaner and spot clean and polish with a mild detergent as needed.
Similar to hardwood floors, it is important to limit water use on vinyl and laminate flooring. Too much water can get into the seams of vinyl flooring and cause the adhesive to loosen and peel back. Laminate has been known to expand if it absorbs too much water. Therefore, it is suggested that any spills be cleaned from these types of floors straightaway. Consistent sweeping and mopping is the best way to keep this flooring clean.
